Steelers Steelers WR Hines Ward Voted One Of The 'Brainiest'

Over the past 10 years, Ward has widely been considered one of the brainiest offensive players in the league. In a survey of NFL head coaches in the spring, Ward received the most votes when coaches were asked to name the smartest nonquarterback offensive player in the league. Among the nonquarterbacks, Ward was the clear choice. "You wonder once in a while what the coaches think of you, and this is really a nice honor," Ward said of the results. Said one AFC coach: "Hines has been one of the smartest players in the league for a long time. He just has a knack for the game."

I'd have to agree. He is a very clever player, he knows where to be on the field, what to do and what it takes. He's a bitch if you're playing against him though, he knows all the tricks in the book, he knows how to twist the rules and get away with it. Lets take the blatent facemask that he gave poor Brian Williams in a game against the Jaguars last season, he made out that it was Williams that committed the foul, and the Squeelers got a 1st and Goal from the one-yard line.

Sly dog, a bastard to play against. But you have to respect him nonetheless.

it probably has a lot to do with being a former quarterback to gain that knowledge of the game

I would've voted for Westbrook after what he did in Texas Stadium last year. That was brilliant.

Can't remember where, but I read it it was Runyan shouting at him to do it.
