 Chad Pennington To The Ravens?

On that front, JetsConfidential.com reports that the Ravens and Jets are discussing a convoluted trade that would land Matt Ryan in New York and Chad Pennington in Baltimore.
If the Jets pick Ryan, according to the rumor, which can't be substantiated, the Jets would then trade Pennington to the Ravens.
What the Jets would get in return from the Ravens is unclear. Perhaps a second round pick.
It's true that there's scuttlebutt linking Ryan to the Jets but the only way the Jets take Ryan is if they're convinced Kellen Clemens is without a future. This scenario leaves them with a quarterback they think stinks and a rookie after spending a fortune to build a team. Presumably they spent all that money for a team that can win now, which would mean they'd want a quarterback who could play. Which leads us back where we started.
It doesn't make much more sense for the Ravens, either. Pennington could and would start for them in 2008 but a second round pick? Way too much to give for a quarterback with fairly well-established limits. It's not a good week for those with high blood pressure what with the salt you've got to take with everything.
