Bulluck AFC defensive player of the week Quote:
He dubbed himself "Mr. Monday Night," and as a result of his prime-time performance, Keith Bulluck can now go by another title: AFC defensive player of the week.
Bulluck, the former Clarkstown North standout, was honored by the NFL yesterday for his Monday night performance in the Tennessee Titans' 31-14 win over the New Orleans Saints.
The Titans' linebacker tied a franchise record with his career-high three interceptions. The 30-year-old Bulluck earned his first player of the week award.
Prior to the game, Bulluck referred to himself as "Mr. Monday Night."
"I feel if you can't get it done on 'Monday Night Football,' you'll never be able to get it done," Bulluck said. "I backed it up."
Bulluck became the first NFL linebacker to have three interceptions in a game since the Cardinals' Ronald McKinnon in 1998.
Bulluck, a first-round pick out of Syracuse in 2000, has 15 tackles this season for the Titans (2-1) and has led the team in tackles in each of the previous five years. He had never had more than one interception in a game.
The Titans have a bye this week. Bulluck will get a chance to defend his Mr. Monday Night title on Nov. 19 when the Titans visit Denver.
Bulluck won't have a chance to play locally this season, but the Titans do host the Jets on Dec. 23.
