AFC AFC Playoff Scenarios

The NFC is pretty much wrapped up. the giants/cowboys winner gets the last playoff spot but the other 5 teams are set. However, the AFC is not a done deal for many teams. We know 4 of the spots are taken by the Pats, Steelers, Ravens, and Texans but there are 5 teams vying for the final 2 spots and here's how each team could get in.

I'll try to make these as simple as possible because some of them are pretty crazy:

Broncos vs. Chiefs -- Win and they win their division. Lose and they're out unless the raiders lose also. They are the easiest to figure out ...............

Raiders vs. Chargers-- Win and they could win their division (if denver loses) or they could get the wild card (if Cincy loses and either the titans lose or the jets win). Lose and they are out.

Bengals vs. Ravens - Win and they're in. They can also lose and get in if the Jets lose and either the Broncos or Raiders lose.

Titans - @ Texans - Lose and they're out. They need to win and have the Bengals lose and then it gets confusing. At that point, if the Jets win, they would need either oakland or denver to lose. If the Jets lose, they would need both the raiders and broncos to WIN. Got it?

Jets - @ Dolphins- Lose and they're out. They need to win and have the Bengals, Titans, and either the Raiders/Broncos to lose.

yep, they need the most help for sure.

i had to edit the broncos because i forgot if both the broncos and raiders lose, the broncos win the division.

it seems like week 17 situations like this always end up with many of the teams losing and crazy things happening so I will just predict all 5 teams will lose which would mean the broncos and bengals get the last 2 spots.......

I think I got the Bengals and Raiders in. Really tough to call though.

Anyone but the Jets and Broncos.

that's weird. all the scenarios i've seen show that the bengals only have to get the jets and one of the afc west teams to lose to get in............ ???

haha. my joke prediction of all 5 afc teams losing almost came true if not for a botched 2-pt attempt.

it really does seem like that happens a lot though (teams needing to win in week 17 to have a chance at the playoffs and they lose)
