Miami QB Jacory Harris Plans To Play In Opener Against Maryland

Seeming upbeat as usual, Miami quarterback Jacory Harris did not hesitate when asked about the fast-approaching start of the Hurricanes' season. "I expect to play," Harris said. "Yes, sir." The NCAA will decide soon if that becomes reality. A person with knowledge of the investigation told ESPN.com's Heather Dinich that Harris is one of up to 13 players declared ineligible by the university after an investigation turned up some proof that former booster Nevin Shapiro provided extra benefits. The school has asked the NCAA if the ineligible players may be reinstated in time for the season-opener. Harris and many other Miami players implicated by the extra-benefits scandal spoke out for the first time Saturday about the mess.

To be reinstated before the start of the season would make declaring them ineligible kind of redundant wouldn't it?

The school declared them ineligible. The NCAA can over rule that and reinstate their eligibility.
Happened to Cam Newton last year. Remember.

Yeah I do. But why reinstate the kids they're going to try and hang and make an example of? The disciplinary system of college athletics is fucking moronic.

Well if the NCAA reinstates them then finds them at fault the university is covering their ass by doing it this way. No games will be forefitted because that player played in the games.

Still sounds moronic to me. I understand the whole CYA concept though.

seems like the whole ineligible threat was just to scare the players. Why tell them there ineligible but then let them play in the opening game
